Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo (R,C,I,Ref-New Suffolk) attended this weekend’s Greenport Maritime festival, where he had the opportunity honor Paul Drum, at the fourth annual Paul Drum Pirates and Mermaids Fundraising Breakfast at the Front Street Station. All donations from the annual breakfast are donated to the Paul Drum Nautical Education program, which is run in cooperation with the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation. The Foundation sponsors free programs for local children ages 7-12 to educate them about safety and enjoyment of our waters. Drum, a young man with Down Syndrome, attends the East End Disabilities Associates and works at the Front Street Station. This is the fourth year that Drum was honored, being named Assemblyman for the Day by Assemblyman Palumbo.
“It was my privilege to honor Paul Drum this weekend and name him Assemblyman for the Day,” said Palumbo. “Paul is truly and inspiration and role model for the youth of our community. The Paul Drum Nautical Education Program is a wonderful cause and I give them my full support. Congratulations Paul, I can’t think of a more worthy recipient.”
