Assemblyman Phil Ramos secures increased education aid for local schools
Increased funding continues Ramos’ commitment to improving local schools
Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D-Central Islip) announced that he was able to secure increased state education money for local schools in the final state budget.
“This education budget keeps our commitment to improving our schools, even during tough economic times,” Ramos said. “By increasing aid to schools we are keeping our commitment to schools and to our children.”
Under the final state budget, Brentwood will receive nearly $207 million in aid, an increase of $15.2 million over last year, Central Islip will receive $85.8 million in total aid, an increase of $12.9 million over last year, and Bay Shore will receive $39.2 million in aid, an increase of $3.2 million.
“Improving our schools is very important to me and to local residents,” Ramos said. “I pushed for more education funding for our schools because better schools lead to better opportunities for our children.”
This year’s budget continues Ramos’ commitment to improving our schools. Since his first year in office, Ramos has made it a top priority to deliver increased aid for the Brentwood, Central Islip, North Bay Shore and Bay Shore communities.
“I went to Albany to fight for increased aid to help improve our schools,” Ramos said. “For too long our community was ignored, I’m now working to give us a voice in Albany and fighting to make sure we get our fair share.”
