“All too often, tight budgets force local governments to cut programs and services or raise taxes in order to scrape by. That’s why I fought tooth and nail to direct critical funding to Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) in the final state budget, protecting over $150,000 in state aid for the villages of Amityville and Babylon and nearly $1.12 million for the town of Babylon.

“AIM funding is a vital resource that helps our municipalities keep property taxes in check. The executive budget proposal sought to cut this funding for more than 90 percent of New York’s villages and towns.[1]

“Our communities can’t afford to be shortchanged. This victory was hard-fought, but I won’t let my guard down when it comes to looking out for Long Island.”
