Blankenbush Votes against the Majority’s Dangerous Gun Law

A statement by Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River)

“When the Majority members pass gun control laws that trample all over our Second Amendment Rights, they do so under the guise of “safety.” Yesterday’s legislation referenced “safe storage.” It sounds good, right?  The truth is, there’s nothing safe about it. In rural areas like our district, many people live a great distance from law enforcement. In an emergency, they may have no choice but to protect themselves and their family members by using a firearm. In the middle of the night, when you have seconds to respond to an intruder, there is no time to unlock a safe or punch in a code. In an emergency, you need your firearm to be accessible. This is a dangerous bill, and I’m proud of my colleagues for joining me in fighting against it on the floor. Majority members from New York City continue to try to tell us how we should be living upstate. It is an outrage,” said Blankenbush.
