Barclay Applauds Confirmation of Former Assemblywoman Jane Corwin to IJC

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref-Pulaski) today applauded the confirmation of Jane Corwin to the International Joint Commission (IJC)--a bi-national organization which represents the U.S. and Canada in water boundary and water resource matters. Corwin was confirmed by the U.S. Senate following her nomination by President Trump.

Six representatives serve on the IJC--3 from the U.S. and 3 from Canada. Last year, the President sought to fill a vacancy and replace the two current U.S. commissioners who supported Plan 2014. Corwin will serve as the U.S. Section Chair on the IJC. Barclay said Upstate needs representation on the International Joint Commission that Corwin will provide.

“I am pleased Jane Corwin will serve on the IJC. I am confident she will be a voice for Upstate and the property owners along the shoreline of Lake Ontario,” said Barclay. “The IJC needs to do more to protect resources, businesses and homeowners along the shore and it needs to reexamine Plan 2014. As a friend and former colleague in the Assembly, I know Jane will ask the tough questions and serve with integrity.”
