Lavine Secures $250,000 for Glen Cove Schools

GLEN COVE, NY – Assemblymember Charles D. Lavine (D-Glen Cove) is pleased to announce that he has secured a New York State grant of $250,000.00 for the Glen Cove School District to be used for desperately needed repairs to both the High School and Middle School Auditoriums.

“I am very pleased to be able to drive a major New York State grant of a quarter of a million dollars to our schools,” said Lavine. Most of the schools have had no major renovation for close to two decades. There have been dangerous incidents due to the structural issues, most recently, when heavy auditorium lighting equipment fell from the ceiling onto the stage floor, luckily causing no injury to any student, faculty or staff.

“Our community has been unable to pay for repairs to our school buildings, repairs that are long overdue,” said Lavine. “Each of us fortunate enough to serve in public office has, first and foremost, the solemn responsibly of protecting the lives and safety of our children.”

The grant will play a significant role in helping to protect Glen Cove’s students and others from harm.

Assemblymember Charles D. Lavine represents New York’s 13th Assembly District. He presently serves as Chairman of the Committee on Election Law and is a member of the Committees on Ethics and Guidance, Codes, Rules, Insurance, and Judiciary.
