Norris: Assembly Majority’s Budget Spends Too Much

A Statement from Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,C,I,Ref-Lockport)

Though there is some positive news in the Assembly Majority’s one-house budget – namely restorations to the Aid to Municipality funding and Extreme Winter Recovery Program, a long overdue increase in reimbursement for local governments that maintain state roads, and an increase for direct-care workers starting in 2020 – overall this budget proposal would cripple our state’s finances if enacted. At a whopping $175.6 billion total, the Assembly Majority’s budget goes over the state’s two percent spending cap, provides no tax or mandate relief and implements $1.6 billion in new taxes.
