Assemblywoman Solages Urges Community Members to Participate in Empire State Development’s Public Meeting about Belmont Park Redevelopment

Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages encourages residents to address their concerns about proposed redevelopment at Belmont Park

Elmont, NY – On Tuesday, February 27, 2018 Empire State Development (ESD) released a 32-page draft scope for an Environmental Impact Statement which will inform the environmental review process for the proposed New York Islanders hockey arena at Belmont Park in Elmont. In addition to the hockey arena, the proposed redevelopment will include: dining, retail, a hotel, commercial office space, a community center, parking, and up to two pedestrian bridges.

ESD will host two consecutive public meetings on Thursday, March 22nd at Elmont Memorial Library at 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm.

“I encourage residents to come out in droves to express their concerns about this redevelopment,” said Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages. “We have to ensure that any development built in Elmont will only enhance and strengthen our community.”
