Assemblyman Smith Unanimously Passes First Bill

Assemblyman Doug Smith’s first bill passes helping veteran housing avoid foreclosure.

As the gavel came down at the close of the 2017-2018 state legislative session this week, the final bill that was voted on was Assemblyman Smith’s bill to help Mercy Haven apply for a property tax exemption on three homes for disabled veterans.

Assemblyman Smith said, “I am proud to have passed my first bill in the Assembly. Having passed the Senate, it is on its way to the Governor to be signed into law. I want to thank my colleagues for their unanimous support as this bill was the final bill before the Assembly stands adjourned for the year. I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues for the benefit of the people of my district and our great state.”
