Smith Fights for a Better State Budget and Lower Taxes

Assemblyman Doug Smith (5th Assembly District) Statement on Assembly one-house budget resolution.

“After learning of the proposed $5.7 billion in tax hikes over the next two years in this year’s Assembly one-house budget resolution, it has become clear to me that our leadership failed to address the key issues that continue to drive New York’s residents and businesses out of our state.

“We should be fighting for a state budget that makes New York a better place to live by lowering the taxes for hardworking families and businesses, while also making strategic investments in important areas, including education, infrastructure improvements, school safety, veterans and support for our disabled community. New Yorkers deserve a better and more affordable New York and that is exactly what I and my fellow legislators will be fighting for in this year’s budget.”
