Assemblyman Charles D. Fall Condemns the Diyanet Mosque Fire after Officials Determined It Was Intentionally Set

On Sunday in New Haven, Connecticut a fire broke out at the Diyanet Mosque causing significant damage to the place of worship. In a recent statement by New Haven Fire Chief, John Alston, “there is detection that there was intent in setting this fire.”

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported but there was one worshiper inside the mosque when the fire started. No arrests have been made, but Governor Ned Lamont and his office will be working with law enforcement to ensure anyone responsible was held accountable.

“We once again see an attack on a place of worship here in the United States. It seems at this point in the investigation that it was fueled by hate. Any attack on a religious institution- with any religion- is intolerable and senseless, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

We as a society must overcome and stay united during this time of religious intolerance,” said Fall.
