Assemblyman Zebrowski Visits Jawonio Staff in the Field to Observe New Technology Made Possible by State Funding

Today, Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski visited with Jawonio CEO Jill Warner and staff and at the New City Library to observe how they are utilizing their new technology upgrades in the field. Assemblyman Zebrowski was able to secure a grant to allow Jawonio to purchase 68 surface tablets and 100 laptops and desktops for its Community Employment Services, Community Living Services, Day Services, and Residential Services staff. Jawonio employees demonstrated how the tablets are used in working with consumers.

“I am thrilled that I was able to secure funding to improve Jawonio’s communications. The tablets are especially helpful to employees that are always on the go and work directly with consumers. That flexibility is critical in providing the appropriate support necessary to ensure that individuals with disabilities are afforded all the tools to succeed and thrive,” said Assemblyman Zebrowski.

"We are so grateful to Assemblyman Zebrowski for his grant supporting our staff with the addition of our brand new Samsung tablets for our Community Employment, Residential and Day Services programs and services. Ken has been an amazing advocate for Jawonio and people with special needs, and with this NYS grant he has created a more efficient environment in our very challenging health care provider world of documentation and service notations. We so appreciate this grant, and it has truly raised the level of proficiencies with the use of technology," Jill Warner, Jawonio CEO.

The new technology will stabilize Jawonio’s core network and vastly enhance connectivity.  These improvements are essential for staff that work in the field, especially Employment Services, who provide job support for individuals with disabilities. The tablets allow employees to work more resourcefully and are able to better utilize their skills in the field with consumers.

Since 1991, Jawonio has placed over 5,000 jobs for individuals with disabilities. As the largest employment service for this population in the Mid-Hudson Region, these new upgrades will vastly improve day to day operations and help with their continued success.

“I’d like to thank Jill Warner and her dedicated, hardworking staff for all that they do to advance the equality and independence of people with special needs. I’d also like to recognize the New City Library and other local organizations and businesses that partner with Jawonio to work with individuals with disabilities,” concluded Assemblyman Zebrowski.
