Assemblywoman Gunther: Zero Suicide Initiative Funding Will Help Save Lives

“As the chair of the Assembly’s Mental Health Committee and a former registered nurse, I am always fighting to support and protect those suffering from mental health issues. I am pleased that the governor delivered two five-year grants totaling $13.5 million to the state Office of Mental Health. These funds will expand access to mental health care for children and support the implementation of the ‘Zero Suicide’ model of suicide prevention measures across our health care system.

“Strengthening our mental health care system remains a top priority for me. We must provide the necessary resources to individuals struggling with their mental health, whether to help them out of a crisis or protect them from reaching that point in the first place. This funding is a step in the right direction, and I will continue to work every day to ensure that all New Yorkers have the support they need.”
