Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R,C-Coney Island) introduced Ukrainian Member of Parliament, Oleksiy Goncharenko, on the Assembly floor this week in Albany. Oleksiy Goncharenko is a Ukrainian politician, member of the Ukrainian Parliament, member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Vice President of the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

“It was my distinct honor to introduce my friend, Oleksiy, in Albany and remind my colleagues that the people of Ukraine need our love and support more than ever right now as the war with Russia continues,” Brook-Krasny said. “Oleksiy is a patriot, diplomat and true public servant who represents his home nation and Europe with honor and distinction.”

After Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Goncharenko joined the territorial defense of Ukraine to defend his homeland against Russian forces and collaborated with worldwide media outlets to correct the Russian propaganda levied against Ukraine. He is also the founder of the largest Ukrainian network of educational, cultural and volunteer centers, the Goncharenko centers, which help citizens in small towns and villages improve their math and science skills and learn foreign languages.
