Brook-Krasny Calls for Passage of ‘Gabby’s Law’ to Create Alert for Missing Adults

Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R,C-Coney Island) joined lawmakers at a press conference in Albany today to call for the passage of “Gabby’s Law” (A.3230) in honor of Long Island resident Gabby Petito who was murdered by her boyfriend in 2021. The bill would create a “Teal Alert,” similar to Amber and Camo alerts already in place, for missing adults presumably in danger.

“The horrific and tragic story of Gabby Petito shows us we must do more to protect victims of domestic violence and those who are missing and believed to be in danger,” Brook-Krasny said. “At a minimal cost to the state, this bill would opt New York into the nationwide missing adult alert system and create a coordinated law enforcement response for finding missing persons before they are harmed. I am calling on legislative leaders to bring this to the floor for a vote before session adjourns for the year.”
