Brook-Krasny Calls for CDPAP Reforms
Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (R,C-Coney Island, Bay Ridge) is calling for reforms to the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) as the end of this year’s legislative session approaches. Ever since the state appointed Public Partnerships LLC (PPL) as the sole fiscal intermediary to streamline operations, New Yorkers have experienced the opposite effect. Not only have caretakers and patients been given unrealistic deadlines, but thousands of elderly and disabled New Yorkers could be at risk of losing this vital care due to onboarding delays. Brook-Krasny is adamant it is the Assembly’s responsibility to ensure New York’s most vulnerable receive the care they need.
“While this transition was designed to make the at-home care process more accessible, this new system is leaving thousands of New Yorkers out in the dark,” said Brook-Krasny. “Patients and caretakers are experiencing rushed deadlines and are unable to get a hold of customer service. As legislators, it’s our duty to make sure our constituents have all the resources they need, and it’s clear this new CDPAP rollout is simply not working. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure we make the necessary changes and fix this program for New Yorkers in need.”
