Assemblywoman Andrea K. Bailey Delivers 1,150 Student-Made May Day Art Pieces to Local Offices for the Aging

Assemblywoman Andrea K. Bailey (R,C-Geneseo) collected 1,150 student-made May Day art pieces for four Offices for the Aging across the district. May Day is a traditional spring festival that marks the arrival of warmer weather and new growth. In honor of this day, it is traditional to create small handmade gifts to spread kindness and celebrate the community.

Students from Victor, Caledonia-Mumford, Avon, Wayland-Cohocton and St. Agnes schools created these art pieces. The pieces ranged from flowers to bumble bees, all honoring the coming of spring and hopefully some warmer weather to come along with it.

They were delivered to the Offices for the Aging of Ontario, Steuben, Livingston and Wyoming counties to go out with their Meals on Wheels deliveries. Each masterpiece was made with love, and Bailey and the students hope to bring joy to each individual who receives them.

“These thoughtful gifts show the spirit of spring and the kindness of our local students. We hope they bring a smile to every person who receives them. Thank you to all the students and school districts that participated. Your kindness and creativity are truly appreciated,” Bailey said.
