Morinello Honors Workers Memorial Day
Assemblyman Angelo Morinello (R,C,I-Niagara Falls) honored Workers Memorial Day this past week by attending the WNY Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO memorial service. Workers Memorial Day is celebrated each year on April 28. It is a day when we pay our respects to those who have lost their lives on the job. This Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m., the Niagara-Orleans Labor Council AFL-CIO is observing Workers Memorial Day at the base of the Power Authority Reservoir.
“Throughout our history workers have sacrificed to go to work, and this is our opportunity to honor those who lost their lives on the job,” Morinello said. “Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic made the dangers more apparent than ever. The pandemic affected workers in ways many of us never thought possible. Many were sickened or died just from going to work. We need to take into account that all workers are essential. Our unions and their allies have struggled and fought to make and keep their promise that every worker has a right to a safe job, winning protections that have made jobs safer and saved lives. Stay safe and never stop advocating for safe workplaces.”
