Morinello Calls For Increased Education, Awareness On Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day
A statement from Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello (R,C,I,Ref-Niagara Falls) on Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day at the Capitol
“Each year, the Legislature holds its annual Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day celebration at the Capitol, allowing legislators from across the state to gain a better understanding of the many issues faced by those with disabilities and their caregivers. All too often we view those with disabilities with a preconceived prejudice or judgment before getting to know them. I believe we all have our own talents, and while some with disabilities may not have the same capabilities as we do, they have their own skills that make them unique. I’m honored my Conference took part in this annual awareness day to help educate people throughout the state about disabilities and I hope we can all begin thinking differently about our valued disability community.”
