Morinello to Hold Free Alzheimer’s Awareness Event on Grand Island
Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello (R,C,I,Ref-Niagara Falls) and Sen. Chris Jacobs will offer a free one-hour Alzheimer’s Awareness event on Wednesday, June 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Golden Age Center at 3278 Whitehaven Rd, Grand Island, NY 14072. The class will be taught by the WNY Alzheimer’s Association and will cover the four areas of lifestyle habits that are associated with healthy aging, including cognitive activity, physical health and exercise, diet and nutrition and social engagement. Attendees can ask questions following the presentation.
“I’ve heard countless stories of loss and heartbreak due to Alzheimer’s and I’m proud to do my part in helping to spread awareness about this terrible disease,” said Morinello. “Awareness and education are key to maintaining good health, healthy lifestyle habits and preventing the onset of cognitive decline. This event will give attendees an opportunity to hear about current research and what we can do to improve or maintain our overall health. It’s a great privilege to host this year’s Alzheimer’s Awareness event and I’m hopeful the community will come out to learn about this devastating disease.”
“We are thankful to Assemblyman Morinello and Senator Jacobs for their efforts in raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias,” said Lauren Ashburn, Director of Respite Services at the Alzheimer’s Association. “Thousands of families across Erie and Niagara counties face the challenge of dementia, and Assemblyman Morinello and Sen. Jacobs are helping ensure they have access to information and services to help them.”
