Morinello Announces Critical Library Funding In Erie, Niagara Counties

Today, Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello (R,C,I,Ref-Niagara Falls) announced five libraries in his district will receive major construction and renovation funding as part of a $34 million capital funding appropriation in the 2018-19 State Budget. This funding includes $47,663 for the Grand Island Memorial Library, $166,474 for the Niagara Falls Public Library (Main Library), $14,000 for the Niagara Falls Public Library (LaSalle Branch), $51,773 for the Lewiston Public Library and $10,050 for Sanborn-Pekin Free Library. These grants are part of the New York State Library and New York State Education Department’s recently-approved 251 construction projects for public libraries across the state.

“The inclusion of $34 million in library construction and renovation grants will massively benefit communities in our district and across the state,” said Morinello. “I understand the importance of libraries as a safe learning environment and as a community hub, and during the 2019 Legislative Session, I fought to ensure we got our fair share of funding. I’m grateful the Legislature opted to include this funding in the budget and hope it will allow children in our district to continue learn and thrive.”
