Morinello: Safe Staffing Necessary

Assemblyman Angelo Morinello (R,C,I-Niagara Falls) joined colleagues from both sides of the aisle in support of safe staffing bills which would require minimum safe staffing protocols for nurses in hospitals (A.108) and nursing homes (A.7119). The bills, which Morinello cosponsors, ensure that all residential healthcare facilities are properly staffed to reduce avoidable and adverse patient outcomes.

“During the early stages of the pandemic our hospitals and healthcare facilities were overwhelmed, and our nurses and healthcare professionals stepped up to the plate,” said Morinello. “By passing legislation to institute a minimum staffing requirement, we can ensure our healthcare facilities are adequately prepared and staffed to address any situations that may arise as well as provide a more balanced and manageable patient load for our nurses who have worked tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
