Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara Honors Dr. Temple Grandin with NYS Assembly Citation at SUNY Geneseo
Geneseo, NY – As Chair of the New York State Assembly Committee on People with Disabilities, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara had the distinct honor of presenting Dr. Temple Grandin with a New York State Assembly Citation during her recent talk at SUNY Geneseo.
Dr. Grandin, a world-renowned scientist, author, and advocate, has been a groundbreaking voice for the autism community. Diagnosed with autism at a young age, she has shattered barriers and redefined perceptions of neurodiversity, particularly in education, employment, and the livestock industry. Her work has paved the way for greater understanding and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum.
"As we approach Autism Acceptance Month in April, it is more important than ever to highlight the voices of those who inspire change," said Assemblyman Santabarbara. "Dr. Grandin’s contributions have not only advanced autism awareness but also fostered a world that embraces neurodiversity. It was an honor to recognize her with a New York State Assembly Citation for her remarkable impact."
The event at SUNY Geneseo drew a packed audience eager to hear Dr. Grandin’s insights on education, employment opportunities, and the importance of early intervention for individuals with autism. Her talk underscored the need for continued advocacy and support, a mission Assemblyman Santabarbara champions through his legislative work.
Santabarbara, who has been a steadfast advocate for individuals with disabilities, continues to push for policies that expand resources, improve access to services, and promote inclusion across New York State. His leadership in the Assembly has resulted in landmark initiatives, including Autism Action Day at the New York State Capitol, which will be held on April 2nd, World Autism Awareness Day.
