Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara Secures $150,000 in State Funding for Special Olympics New York
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara today announced that he successfully secured $150,000 in state funding for Special Olympics New York in the FY2025–26 State Budget.
“As both a state legislator and a Special Olympics basketball coach, I know how important these programs are for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Santabarbara. “That’s why I fought to ensure this funding was included in this year’s budget – to support the life- changing impact Special Olympics has across our state and in our local communities.”
The $150,000 appropriation will fund year-round programming, training, and competition opportunities for thousands of athletes, including many in the Capital Region. The investment also supports health and wellness initiatives that improve quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
“Special Olympics athletes inspire us every day with their determination, teamwork, and courage,” Santabarbara added. “I’m proud to stand with them – and to deliver the resources that help them thrive.”
