Assemblyman Santabarbara joins Assembly Committee on Racing and Wagering
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced on Tuesday that he is serving the Assembly Committee on Racing & Wagering.
New York’s gaming landscape is rapidly evolving and the Capital Region is the epicenter for many of those changes, which is why Assemblyman Santabarbara pushed to join the committee that will be responsible for overseeing and regulating future developments. The city of Schenectady, which he represents, is already home to the state’s Gaming Commission and the corporate headquarters for Capital Off-Track Betting – and it will soon be the location of the Rivers Casino & Resort.
“Serving on the Assembly’s Racing and Wagering Committee will enable me to better serve the interests of the people in Schenectady and across the region during this transformational period,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “The Rivers Casino & Resort is an important project for my region and I will continue to work tirelessly to make sure it is a success for our local economy, creating new jobs, boosting our small businesses and tourism to this new world class destination.”
“Assemblyman Santabarbara’s new role on the Assembly’s Racing & Wagering Committee puts him in a great position to maximize the potential benefit of the Rivers Casino & Resort for our community and local businesses. We look forward to a continued strong partnership with the Assemblyman as we move into this next stage of development for Schenectady and the region,” said Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation President Jim Salengo.
“Now that our local representatives are ready to move forward on the full development of the Rivers Casino & Resort, it will be critical to have a local voice working to shape legislation and overseeing regulations that will affect our community and region,” Santabarbara added.
