Assemblyman Santabarbara Announces Grant Awards for Local Governments
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced that three local municipalities were awarded grants from the state to improve record management services and better serve the public. The Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund has awarded over $4 million to local governments across the state. Since its inception in 1988, the grant program has helped fund $250 million in projects to help local municipalities improve their services in regards to record management.
“By funding these development projects, we’re helping our municipal governments meet their obligations to their residents, while also ensuring that the burden of funding these critical projects does not fall on the backs of local property taxpayers,” said Santabarbara. “Ensuring our towns, school districts and county governments have the resources they need to continue serving the interests of the people is a top priority and I’ll continue fighting on behalf of our communities.”
The Town of Knox will receive $23,156 to better manage inactive records. Montgomery County and the Schenectady City School District will receive $77,300 and $30,600, respectively, for converting documents to a digital format to improve public access.
