Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced $9.5 million in state funding to repave local roads in his Assembly District which includes Montgomery County and parts of Schenectady and Albany Counties. The funding is part of $403.3 million allocated for pavement improvement projects across the state.
As a Civil Engineer now serving in our State Assembly, I know that smart investments like this to improve infrastructure with 21st century materials and technology will ensure continued success for upstate communities,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “Funding to build safer, more reliable roads and bridges is critical to economic growth and ensuring public safety for local residents.”
The funding, which covers over 40 miles of local roads, makes much needed repairs to:
• 8 miles of Route 334 from Fonda to Samsonville ($1.6 million)

• 8.3 miles of Route 159 in Duanesburg, Princetown and Rotterdam ($2.5 million)

The Albany, Montgomery and Schenectady areas represented by Assemblyman Santabarbara in the State Assembly District has seen the impact of extreme weather and recent events has put the spotlight on aging infrastructure statewide. “This additional funding helps us become better prepared for future weather events, reduces the risk of flooding and ensures safer travel during emergencies,” Santabarbara added. "With construction season upon us, you can be sure more funding like this to improve aging infrastructure in our upstate communities will be at the top of my list.”
