Santabarbara: Great to See Schenectady County Company Receive Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Certification!

Allegra Marketing Print Mail, located in Schenectady County, specializing in printing, marketing, and graphics services has recently been certified by the Office of General Services’ (OGS) Division of Service-Disabled Veterans’ Business Development (DSDVBD).

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, who served in the US Army Reserve and as a past Commander of AmVets Post 35, now serves on the State Assembly's Committee on Veterans' Affairs and helped pass the “Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act” in 2014 (Ch. 22). "This law made New York a national leader in helping the small businesses of our returning heroes by setting a 6 percent participation goal in the awarding of state contracts to service-disabled veteran-owned businesses," said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “Our service-disabled veterans have made enormous sacrifices to defend our nation and protect our freedom," Santabarbara added. "Supporting small businesses in our community like Allegra Marketing Print Mail here in Schenectady County not only strengthens our region’s economy, but also supports the local men and women serving in our nation’s armed forces upon their return home."

According to census data, approximately 35,485 veterans reside in Albany, Schenectady and Montgomery counties. In addition, one in seven veterans is self-employed or small business owners. As of July 6, 2017, a total of 354 businesses have been certified. More information on the program and the certification process can be found at http://ogs.ny.gov/Core/SDVOBA.asp.
