Assemblyman Santabarbara Announces State Funding for Local Farms
$50 million available for water quality projects
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced $50 million in state funding available to livestock farms. The funding supports a number of water quality protection projects and is available through a grant application that can be found on the Department of Agriculture and Markets' website. In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Markets along with the Department of Environmental Conservation have developed an informational document that can be found here.
“Agriculture is a big economic driver here in Montgomery County with family farms passed down from generation to generation,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “As a member of the State Assembly’s Agriculture Committee, I insisted that the state budget include funding for a wide array of programs that support the agricultural industry so it can keep growing,” Assemblyman Santabarbara said. “This investment in our dairy and livestock farms and in the protection of our natural resources makes our communities stronger, and I encourage local farms to apply.”
The application period for the first $20 million is now open with application deadline of November 20, 2017. Grant awards will be made by December 18, 2017. The Department will launch a second and third application period for an additional $15 million in both 2018 and 2019.
