Assemblyman Santabarbara to Host 2nd Annual Autism Day at Via Aquarium
More than 1,500 expected to participate!
April is Autism Awareness Month! Assemblyman Santabarbara is hosting his second Annual Autism Day at Via Aquarium in Rotterdam THIS SUNDAY APRIL 8th. Via Aquarium will be opening early at 9:30am to make it easier for children and adults with autism to enjoy a day exploring the new aquarium in a sensory friendly environment.
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara and his 16-year-old son, Michael, who was diagnosed with autism at age 3, will welcome the more than 1,500 guests that are expected to attend. "Autism is the fastest-growing development disability in the country," said Santabarbara, who serves as chair of the New York State Assembly’s Subcommittee on Autism Spectrum Disorders. “About 1 in 68 children in the United States are living with autism, and I’m so very pleased to partner with Via Aquarium to help raise awareness in our community and also bring a unique opportunity for children and adults with autism to enjoy a day exploring in a sensory-friendly environment.”
