MMA Returns to Rivers Casino Schenectady
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced today that the Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady will be the site of three upcoming Mixed Martial Arts events scheduled for July 14th, September 15th and November 24th. This announcement comes after the Rivers Casino and Resort sold out its Cage Wars Mixed Martial Arts Event in April of this year.
“For years, I continued to fight in the State Assembly to make Mixed Martial Arts a legal sport in New York to bring local athletes all the opportunities other states already had,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, who is a member of the NY State Assembly’s Racing & Wagering Committee. “Beyond that, communities like Schenectady are now seeing the economic impact the sport brings,” Assemblyman Santabarbara said. “The sold out event in April was a win for tourism and a win for the local economy,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “Hundreds of new visitors came to the electric city for MMA and they stayed for all that Schenectady has to offer,” Santabarbara added. “With the Mohawk Harbor now open offering a number of new summer events and activities, today’s news is the perfect addition to the all the excitement coming to Schenectady this summer.”
