Assemblyman Santabarbara: Rotterdam Water Main Breaks Highlight Need to Continue Funding Rebuilding Aging Infrastructure
“Water main breaks like the one we saw today at Altamont Avenue and Curry Road have unfortunately become the new norm. These breaks are not only costly to taxpayers and municipalities but also show the potential health and safety risks aging water infrastructure has in our community,” said Assemblyman Santabarbara, who is a civil engineer.
“As a civil engineer, I have significant concerns and have monitored the latest string of water main breaks in Rotterdam very closely. In the New York State Assembly, I continue to call for attention to this issue here in Rotterdam and have already met with NY State Department of Health officials to request assistance. Smart investments to replace old pipes and water mains in the town of Rotterdam can help us get ahead of the problems and prevent breaks like we saw today from happening in the first place.”
