Assemblyman Santabarbara Announces $3.3 Million in State Funding Awarded to Schenectady County for Supportive Housing
The Community Builders Inc. of Schenectady County to receive $3.3 million development of 26 units of supportive housing
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced $3.3 million in state funding awarded to Schenectady County for supportive housing and emergency shelter repair. The funding will be combined with other sources to pay for The Community Builders Incorporated of Schenectady County’s development of supportive housing project.
The project will assist in the completion of 26 of the 85 unit supportive development costing a total of $40 million. It will be focused in on serving homeless individuals or families with a serious mental illness or substance use disorder and providing them with the care they need. The program will also assist young adults including those that have recently aged or are close to aging out of foster care.
Individuals and families in the program will also have access to services provided by the Schenectady Community Action Program including case management, referrals, preventative medical and dental care, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, legal assistance, employment, and educational services. The program is dedicated to making services available that can change the lives of those enrolled, and will help each individual and their families to a healthy and secure situation.
