Assemblyman Santabarbara Introduces Legislation to Honor Fallen State Trooper from Local Area

Bill Creates “Trooper Jeremy J. VanNostrand Memorial Highway”

Sadly, a crash near the Route 5S barracks in the town of Glen on the morning of November 27, 2018 claimed the life of New York State Trooper Jeremy VanNostrand of Schenectady County.

At the request of Trooper VanNostrand’s colleagues in the New York State Police, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara has now introduced legislation in the New York State Assembly that will designate a portion of Route 5s as the “Trooper Jeremy J. VanNostrand Memorial Highway”—the portion of the state highway where the Troop G Barracks are located and where Trooper VanNostrand served — a fitting tribute to his service and dedication to the people of New York.

Jeremy began his career in public service to the State of New York in 2004 where he was first employed for the Department of Corrections. In 2013 he graduated from the New York State Police Academy and began his career for the State Police in Troop G, where he served for six years. Trooper VanNostrand is remembered by family, friends and community as a loving father, husband and a dedicated member of law enforcement who served with honor and distinction.
