New Indoor Training Facility to be Named in Honor of Amsterdam's Retiring Police Chief

Assemblyman Santabarbara secured funds to complete the project in 2018

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara will join the City of Amsterdam Mayor Michael Cinquanti and the Amsterdam Police Department on Thursday to dedicate the department’s restored indoor firing range. Assemblyman Santabarbara secured the $285,000 in funding needed for the project from the State Assembly in 2018, which included significant renovations to the dormant training facility beneath the Amsterdam Police Department transforming it into a regional year-round training facility for law enforcement. The fully restored and modernized shooting range will be officially named in honor of recently retired city Police Chief Gregory Culick who partnered with Assemblyman Santabarbara on the project. Former Chief Greg Culick retired at the end of June after 32 years with the Amsterdam Police Department, serving as police chief since 2011.
