Assemblyman Santabarbara: Valentines for Vets Program Helps Provide Comfort in Trying Times

As Valentine’s Day rolls around, Assemblyman Santabarbara is pleased to once again host his annual 'Valentines for Vets' program to give a special thanks to local heroes in our community.

The program, in its ninth year now, involves a number of schools producing hundreds of specially prepared Valentine’s Day ‘THANK YOU’ cards that are delivered to local area veterans. Over the years, the program has provided students an opportunity to show gratitude and appreciation to veterans while learning more about their service to our country.

This year, Assemblyman Santabarbara is asking for help to ensure another year of success! Due to COVID restrictions, cards will be distributed to our local schools and a downloadable version is available on Santabarbara’s Assembly webpage to allow participation in a socially distant way. Simply print out the card for your child to color in and then drop it off or mail it to Santabarbara’s district office. If your computer allows, you can also digitally “paint” the card and e-mail it back to him.

Although children will not be able to present the cards personally to local veterans in a special ceremony as in years past, Assemblyman Santabarbara will make sure the cards prepared by the children are collected and distributed to our veterans on Valentine's Day.

Any children, schools, youth groups or veteran organizations interested in participating in the program can visit Assemblyman Santabarbara’s website or contact his office for more information at 518-382-2941.
