Assemblyman Santabarbara Passes Bill to Bolster Health Care System Reporting

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced today the passage of legislation he co-sponsored in the Assembly to mandate the release of information collected through the state's Health Reporting Data System (HERDS).

“During this pandemic, we saw how a breakdown in HERDS data communication created another element of difficulty in ensuring a proper government response. I am proud to pass this legislation that mandates the timely release of this data so we can protect our communities as we work through the ongoing pandemic and avoid similar obstacles in the future.”

This information will help health care providers and government agencies alike to form policies during a health care emergency. The sooner we have accurate and comprehensive health care data during a crisis, the sooner we can implement stronger emergency response policies to save lives and deploy resources efficiently, noted Santabarbara.
