We have come so far from where we were a year ago and I know New Yorkers are ready to get out and explore this summer with their family and friends. As a part of our revitalization, New York has launched a new initiative to reimagine our Erie Canalway system, and through a combined public and private effort, this will be a summer to remember.

The Erie Canalway is a rich part of our state history, serving as a corridor for goods, settlers, and serving as a symbolism of American hard work, determination, and ingenuity. Now, nearly 200 years after its completion, the canalway is still central to so many - whether that’s bringing in visitors from all over the state or even outside of the country, to connecting families with nature and local history.

Our work will offer New Yorkers a way to reconnect with their community, both the past and the present, and help keep New York on track towards a strong recovery.
