February 27, 2019

Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo (R,C,I,Ref-New Suffolk) joined his colleagues today announcing their budget priorities for 2019-20. Their proposals are known as the “Budget Blueprint for a Better NY,” and call on the governor and legislative leaders to ensure these common-sense solutions are included in the 2019-2020 enacted budget.

The measures include:

•           Making the 2 Percent Property Tax Cap Permanent

•           Providing a Living Wage for Direct-Care Workers

•           Keeping the Middle-Class Tax Cuts on Track

•           Increasing Funding for CHIPS

•           Increasing Library Aid

•           Providing Unfunded Mandate Relief

•           Giving Help to Small Businesses

•           Improving the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) & Offer Student Loan Relief

•           Calling for a Hearing on Prison Closure Proposals

•           Keeping AIM Funding Levels & Processes Intact

“These are issues that we should be focusing on this session,” said Palumbo. “I hope to see them addressed in the 2019-2020 enacted budget. These are common-sense solutions to problems faced by our communities, such as addressing high property taxes by making the tax cap permanent, increasing funding for CHIPS to address infrastructure problems around the state and keeping AIM funding levels and processes intact for towns and villages. I am very proud to stand with my Conference to unveil them and I encourage the governor and legislative leaders to review and adopt them.”
