Palumbo Joins Colleagues Asking Assembly Majority to Support Gold Star Families

April 17, 2019

Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo (R,C,I,Ref-New Suffolk) announced today that there will be a petition available to sign in support of A.2991, which was blocked by the Assembly Majority last week in the Higher Education Committee. A.2991 would provide free college tuition and room and board to dependents of our military who died in service to their country to attend either a CUNY or SUNY school.

Since being held for consideration last week, it has gained a lot of traction with both the governor and president coming out in support of the legislation.

“We need to get this bill to the floor and passed this legislative session,” said Palumbo. “Despite being held for consideration there is still a chance we can deliver on this. This is about doing the right thing setting politics aside and passing legislation that will benefit the children of our fallen heroes. I strongly encourage all those who support the bill to sign our petition and let Assembly Majority know that we won’t take no for an answer.”
