Assemblyman Billy Jones: North Country Continues to Be the Place to Be for Transportation Manufacturing
The North Country Chamber of Commerce and North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment (NAmTrans) hosted the Québec-New York Transportation Rendezvous and B2B today. This event, in partnership with Aéro Montréal and Propulsion Québec, was an opportunity for manufacturers and companies in the ground transportation and aerospace industries to meet and network with potential customers, suppliers, and resources. It was a jam-packed day filled with informational sessions, panels, presentations and keynote speakers to highlight the importance of the relationship between the North Country and Québec.
During the event, NAmTrans signed Memorandums of Cooperation with Propulsion Québec and Aéro Montréal. Both declarations are continuations of declarations signed previously in 2015 and 2017 to establish a formal collaborative relationship between the two regions. Assemblyman Billy Jones (D-Chateaugay Lake) is a long-time supporter of NAmTrans and the local transportation manufacturing sector and has secured funding for NAmTrans and the North Country Chamber of Commerce previous state budgets.
“It’s an honor to sponsor the Québec New York Transportation Rendezvous and be a part of the Memorandums of Cooperation between NAmTrans and Propulsion Québec and Aéro Montréal,” said Assemblyman Billy Jones. “As the honorary co-chair of the Québec-New York Corridor Coalition and co-chair of the Council of State Governments’ Eastern Regional Conference Canada-U.S. Relations Committee, I want to congratulate everyone on this momentous occasion that celebrates the unique relationship between the North Country and our northern neighbors and the transportation manufacturing industries on both sides of the border. Collaboration is key to our continued success and these memorandums will further instill what locals already know- that the North Country is the place to be for transportation manufacturing.”
"No public official is more indispensable to all of our strategic efforts in the field of transportation equipment than Billy Jones," says Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of Commerce. "He has provided the support necessary for us to organize, serve and grow the North Country's diverse cluster of transportation equipment manufacturers, and for continuation of our many endeavors to sustain and build our cross-border connections with Quebec. Everyone involved thanks him for his leadership and commitment on both fronts."
