Assemblyman Billy Jones Passes Important Local Historic Preservation Bill

“I was proud to pass important legislation (A2411) this year to help preserve local history in the Adirondacks and make sure we are able to keep telling these stories to future generations. This bill would allow historic buildings that are part of or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places to be considered while creating Unit Management Plans. This distinction would help preserve important historic sites. This is not a mandate to save all historic buildings- it just provides the tools to help preserve buildings if it makes sense for the community. This bill has been introduced every Session since 2017 but failed to pass the Senate this year.”
