“Every day, volunteer firefighters across the state risk their lives to keep our communities safe. They’re frequently exposed to smoke and chemicals and deserve comprehensive health care coverage if they fall ill. It’s imperative the Volunteer Firefighters’ Benefit Law to include presumptive coverage for cancers that affect the digestive, hematological, lymphatic, urinary, prostate, neurological, breast and reproductive systems. We must lay out groundwork to help these heroes and ensure that those who risk their lives for us are taken care of in their time of need.”
