“Joyce Mitchell put the lives of North Country residents and hundreds of law enforcement officers at risk when she helped two convicted murderers escape from the Clinton Correctional Facility. Her actions not only cost taxpayers millions of dollars to fund one of the largest manhunts in American history, but the time and stress that was caused to both our law enforcement officers and their families can never be regained.

“Joyce Mitchell’s thoughtless and reckless actions took away our sense of security and put us all in danger. Ms. Mitchell had ample opportunity to alert officials to the oncoming dangers and she failed to do so. Therefore when she faces the state Board of Parole in February, I hope they bear this in mind and she does not deserve any more chances for redemption.”
