Assemblyman Jones: Tablets are a Luxury that Convicted Felons Should Not Be Afforded
“I am vehemently opposed to the recent proposition by the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) to provide free tablets to every prison inmate in the state. When our children in our schools don’t have access to tablet technology, it seems ludicrous that convicted felons are afforded such a luxury.”
“The hardworking civilians and officers of our facilities are not even allowed to bring a can of soup into the facility and must have their privacy exposed through a clear bag, yet the inmates will now have access to state of the art technology. The fact is, no one working inside these facilities is allowed to bring in or wear any electronic device for security purposes, and to exempt the inmates from this protocol sends the wrong message to dutiful and law abiding citizens.”
