Assemblyman Billy Jones Kicks Off Second District Tour in Saranac Lake
Assemblyman Billy Jones (D-Chateaugay) announced that his second district tour will launch Thursday, Feb. 15, in Saranac Lake and that he will hold a town hall meeting Saturday, Feb. 17, in Plattsburgh. This is part of Jones’ ongoing effort to meet face-to-face with as many residents as he can as he begins his second year in the state Assembly.
“As the North Country’s voice in Albany, it’s important that I hear about the issues on families’ minds and the problems facing local businesses,” Jones said. “This will help me make sure I’m working to move the North Country forward, especially as I help craft the state budget.”
The tour will begin in Saranac Lake, where Jones will be joined by Assembly Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle (D-Rochester). They will visit Hotel Saranac, which was recently remodeled to restore its historic architecture with funding from the North Country Regional Economic Development Council, and attend the Economic Development Roundtable Lunch hosted by the North Country Chamber of Commerce. They will also visit the Trudeau Institute.
On Friday, Feb. 16, Jones will visit the Wead Library in Malone from 10 a.m. to noon, the Constable Town Offices from 1 to 3 p.m. and the Chateaugay Memorial Library from 4 to 6 p.m. Over the following two weeks, he will make stops throughout the district, which includes all of Clinton and Franklin counties, as well as the towns of Brasher, Lawrence, Piercefield and Hopkinton in St. Lawrence County.
Jones will also hold a public town hall meeting from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Plattsburgh Town Office, located at 151 Banker Road.
“My top priority is to continue to be accessible and accountable to the people I represent,” Jones said. “The best way to do this is meeting face-to-face with members of the community as often as possible, so we can have a dialogue and come up with solutions that help the North Country thrive.”
