Assemblyman Jones Calls on FCC to Reject Charter Petition to Reduce Rural Broadband Funding
Far too many North Country communities are still without a reliable internet connection despite the need for this critical service, especially during our current situation. Charters petition to exclude its service areas from the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) process is a step in the absolute wrong direction and glaring disregard for the broadband needs of our region and other rural areas in New York State. If the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) were to approve this waiver, our communities would lose out on vital funding to bring reliable internet access to the thousands of households and businesses across our state currently without it. Broadband is no longer a luxury and Ill continue working hard to expand access and availability to our families.
