“Today I was pleased to hear that Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that malls will be allowed to reopen under Phase IV on July 10 as long as the shopping center has the correct filters for their air conditioning system. The Champlain Centre in Plattsburgh has been anticipating this announcement and has worked hard to be ready to open this Friday. After weeks of advocating for malls and other businesses to reopen in the North Country, this was great news for our region because reopening indoor malls is an important step in creating fairness between shopping malls and other retail businesses that were allowed to reopen under Phase II. However, more needs to be done to revitalize our economy during the COVID-19 pandemic, and I will continue to fight for more businesses such as health and fitness centers and bowling alleys to reopen.”
