Assemblyman Billy Jones Secures $125,000 for Beekmantown
Assemblyman Billy Jones (D-Chateaugay Lake) presented a $125,000 check on Wednesday, Oct. 26, to the town of Beekmantown for the purchase and installation of water system equipment. Jones secured this State and Municipal Facilities Program funding for the town in the 2019-20 state budget.
“For the North Country, the security of our clean water infrastructure is more crucial than ever, especially as we are getting closer to the winter months,” said Jones. “The actions we take to mitigate the damage associated with winter storms – like road salt use – can have long-lasting consequences for our water supply and infrastructure, environment and families. The funding I secured will help improve and strengthen Beekmantown’s water infrastructure, and I‘ll continue working with my legislative colleagues to safeguard the North Country’s drinking water.”
“Through this process of applying for grants, Billy Jones has been a tremendous asset,” said Beekmantown Supervisor Samuel R. Dyer. “He has come through for us like nobody else ever has. Though I hope we can gain additional support in the future, I know I can always count on Billy Jones’ aid.”
The $125,000 in state funding will be used to purchase and install equipment for Beekmantown’s water system including:
- Over $60,000 for a new generator;
- $42,000 for poly-water storage tanks;
- $35,133 for packaged booster pumps;
- $20,000 for hydro-pneumatic tanks; and
- $13,000 for chemical feed equipment.
