Asian American Assembly Member Lester Chang (AD-49) Seated Following Controversy Surrounding Election Rules and Threat of Removal
Albany, NY – The NYS Assembly has decided to seat AM Lester Chang, after his seat was subject to legal scrutiny. Controversies will continue to be investigated by relevant state and federal authorities. AM Brian Cunningham (AD-43) issued the following statement:
“The people’s Assembly after careful deliberation has made a decision that accords steadily with both principles of fairness and rule of law. Every American is entitled to due process – my colleague, the honorable Lester Chang is no exception. I would like to applaud his being elected as the first Asian American to represent a district where many constituents share the same ethnic background. I look forward working with Mr. Chang in the months ahead and wish him a successful first session”
